I can't find a good picture of this book to save my life. Rick Bragg's, All Over but the Shoutin' is a beautiful memoir/tribute to his mother. Rick was born and raised in Piedmont, Alabama. He's the son of an alcoholic father and an amazingly resilient mother.

One of my favorite quotes...

February Book Club

To pause means to take....

a brief suspension.
a temporary rest.
a time of reflection.
a momentary stop.
a little breather.


Life is not a dress rehearsal. Maybe it's not so much about knowing when to make decisions or take action as much as it is about knowing when to pause. When to be silent. When to wait. When to "hold".

The music has faded and the curtains drawn. It's time for an intermission. This young lady (that's me!) is off to find her dressing room. I am going to take the time to pause.

The only sound is the click-clacking of my heels echoing in the corridor. By the way, my dressing room is the one with a gold star on the door. You have one too.

Act II will surely be worth the wait.

The Well-Read Camera

What's this, you ask? A pinhole camera. I stumbled across Engrained on Etsy over the weekend and well, I am having a hard time thinking about much else. Erin makes these cameras from old cigar boxes and hardback books. I am sort of in love with old things (as if you couldn't tell!) and am loving this genuis idea. Also for sale at Anthropologie.

Loving the stripes, polka dots and elephant print. These bags are making me want to rush out to Central Market this afternoon for groceries.

Dita's Digs

My dear friend, LEW, sent me a little preview message about Dita Von Teese's home being featured in February's InStyle issue. I am so glad she did! Just look at that pink kitchen. I cannot stop looking at those gray walls in her dressing area either. Apparently she loves scoring bargains on vintage too :)! Something tells me that the gorgeous Ms. Teese knows exactly "How to Hepburn".
